This 6 AWG THHN/THWN-2 copper building wire is built for 60A circuits feeding sub-panels, large HVAC systems, and industrial equipment. The pure copper stranded conductor efficiently transmits power. PVC insulation with a nylon jacket resists abrasion and moisture ingress. UL83 certified with a 600V rating. The THWN-2 rating supports damp and wet location installations. What is the ampacity of 6 AWG at 60°C?

Approximately 60A at 60°C termination temperature. Check the termination rating for the specific installation.

What conduit size is needed for a single 6 AWG conductor?

3/4" conduit is typically sufficient for a single 6 AWG conductor. Multiple conductors require fill calculations.

Why is 6 AWG only available stranded?

6 AWG solid would be extremely stiff and difficult to pull through conduit. Stranded is standard at this size.

Does 6 AWG require a torque wrench for terminations?

Yes. Use a torque wrench set to the lug manufacturer's specification for reliable connections.
