UL Cable Wire Process Flow
UL cables must meet the strict requirements of UL standards for safety, performance and consistency. The manufacturing process of UL cables must be strictly and systematically controlled.
Conductor Rods and Wire Drawing
Cable production uses multiple wire drawing processes to process the conductor into the required diameter. The conductor must have excellent ductility and conductivity and meet the UL certification requirements for resistivity and surface quality.
Conductor Twisting And Bundling
Multiple monofilament conductors are twisted or bundled at a specific pitch to form a soft conductor or twisted core. This step plays a decisive role in the softness and mechanical strength of the finished cable, and must meet UL's specifications for structural uniformity and concentricity.
Plastic Insulation Extrusion
PVC, PE or other UL-approved plastic materials are uniformly extruded outside the conductor to achieve basic insulation. The insulation thickness must be controlled within a strict tolerance range, and the dielectric strength is the breakdown voltage test of the UL standard.
Manufacturing of XLPE Insulated Cables
For UL wires (such as THWN-2, XHHW) that require high temperature tolerance or long-term stability, cross-linked polyethylene insulation will be used, and cross-linking and curing will be carried out by irradiation or chemical methods to enhance insulation performance and environmental resistance.
Rubber Insulation Processing
