Copper NMWU90 wire is a durable, direct-burial rated cable designed for underground and outdoor installations. It features annealed soft copper conductors with compressed or compact stranding, insulated with tough Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) for reliable electrical performance. Each cable includes a bare solid or stranded copper ground (bonding) wire and is enclosed in a black, moisture- and sunlight-resistant PVC outer jacket rated for 60°C. The conductors are color-coded for easy identification-white and black for 2 conductor cables, and white, black, and red for 3-conductor versions. Manufactured to meet CSA FT1 and CSA C22.2 No. 48 standards, this wire is also available in long lengths upon request, offering flexibility for various residential and light commercial wiring needs.

Application

Solid copper NMWU wire is specifically designed for underground wiring applications, including direct burial without the need for conduit. It is also suitable for use in both dry and wet environments exposed to the elements, making it good for outdoor lighting, garage wiring, sheds, and outbuildings. With a maximum conductor temperature of 60°C and a voltage rating of 300V, it meets the safety and performance requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code. The cable supports installation in a wide range of temperatures-from as low as -40°C for two-conductor sizes (AWG 14 to AWG 6) to -10°C for three-conductor variants-when handled properly. For best results, it is recommended to store the material above 0°C for at least 24 hours before installation.
