1 AWG MC Cable: Ideal Choice for Industrial Power Distribution and Equipment Connection
This 1 AWG 600V metal-clad cable features interlocked aluminum armor, separator tape, and THHN/THWN-2 insulated conductors. It is designed for indoor power distribution, equipment connection, and industrial installation applications. Typical uses include main feeders in commercial buildings, machinery power leads, industrial branch circuits, and control panel supply. The interlocked aluminum armor provides excellent crush and tensile protection while remaining lightweight and flexible for easy bending and pulling. THHN/THWN-2 conductors are rated 90°C dry and 75°C wet, with a nylon jacket that resists abrasion and oil. The separator tape ensures electrical isolation between conductors and the metal armor. Certified to UL 1569 (Metal-Clad Cable) and UL 83 (Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires), this cable is a reliable choice for indoor power distribution projects that require mechanical protection and installation convenience.

Can this 1 AWG MC cable be used outdoors in wet locations?
Not recommended. This cable has no waterproof PVC outer jacket, and THHN/THWN-2 is rated only 75°C wet. For outdoor wet areas, select MC cable with a moisture-resistant jacket.
Can the interlocked aluminum armor serve as an equipment grounding conductor?
Yes, per NEC the armor can be used as an equipment grounding conductor, but a separate internal ground wire is typically still required for a low-impedance path.
What is the ampacity of 1 AWG?
Ampacity depends on installation conditions and ambient temperature. Per NEC, THHN at 90°C is approximately 130A, and THWN-2 at 75°C is approximately 110A. Always verify based on your actual application.
Can you provide UL certification and file number?
