Application
PLTC / ITC Armored Instrumentation Cable
PLTC/ITC instrumentation cables are primarily used in industrial instrumentation and control systems where signal stability, interference immunity, and mechanical protection are critical. These cables are typically used in PLC, DCS, and process control systems to connect various sensors, transmitters, actuators, and control devices, suitable for transmitting 4–20 mA analog signals, low-level control signals, and industrial communication signals.
In industrial environments such as petrochemical, power, energy, metallurgy, water treatment, and manufacturing plants, cables often need to be laid in parallel with motors, frequency converters, and high-power equipment. Multiple pairs or sets of three-core independently shielded structures effectively reduce crosstalk and electromagnetic interference, ensuring long-term signal stability and reliability.

description

UL PLTC/ITC armored instrument cables are high-reliability industrial signal cables. Their multi-shielded design enhances electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity, reduces crosstalk, ensures signal integrity, improves system measurement accuracy, and enhances adaptability to high-interference industrial environments. The armored structure improves the cable's mechanical protection, reduces reliance on metal conduits, and provides resistance to rodents and vandalism. The cable is highly versatile and meets the application requirements of both PLTC and ITC.
Certification
Instrumentation cables have obtained multiple authoritative UL certifications and comply with mainstream North American industrial instrumentation and control system specifications. The products simultaneously meet UL 13 (Power-Limited Tray Cable) and UL 2250 (Instrumentation Tray Cable) standards. The cables undergo rigorous verification according to UL requirements in their structure, materials, and manufacturing processes, and have passed UL 1685/FT4/IEEE 1202 vertical tray flame retardancy tests, effectively reducing the risk of flame spread.

FAQ
Q: Can armored cables be used as power cables?
A: No, PLTC/ITC cables belong to the instrumentation and control category, primarily used in signal and control circuits. Their rated voltage is 300V, and they are not suitable for carrying the current of power loads such as motors and electric heaters. Even with an armored structure, their design goal is signal stability, not power transmission.
Q: Does overall shielding eliminate the need for individual shielding?
A: No. In multi-pair or multi-group 3 core applications:individual shielding is used to suppress crosstalk between circuits, while overall shielding is used to protect against external electromagnetic interference.
The lack of individual shielding can easily lead to signal interference in complex control systems, especially detrimental to analog and weak signals.
Q: Are PLTC and ITC the same type of cable?
A: Although often mentioned together, they are not entirely equivalent:
PLTC (Power-Limited Tray Cable): Used for power-limited control and signal loops.
ITC (Instrumentation Tray Cable): More focused on industrial instrumentation signal applications.
