UL 83 is the standard for thermoplastic-insulated wires and cables. Its scope includes 600 V single-conductor thermoplastic-insulated products intended for use under the applicable electrical codes. For international orders of UL83 THHN wire, GERITEL WIRE can coordinate technical confirmation, color and size selection, printing, packing and shipment documentation.

Is UL 83 the same as the NEC?

No. UL 83 is a product standard, while the NEC is an installation code. A compliant product still has to be installed in a manner permitted by the applicable electrical code.
