Protective Earthing Cable for Control Panels and Cabinets

2.5mm2 copper earth cable uses a 7/0.67 mm plain annealed copper conductor to provide easier routing than a solid core while remaining a Class 2 fixed-wiring product. The green yellow PE conductor is suitable for separate protective earth connections in control panels, cabinets, apparatus and protected conduit. Manufactured as AS/NZS 5000.1 earth wire with conductor requirements to AS/NZS 1125, it is rated 0.6/1kV, insulated with V-90 PVC and specified for 75°C continuous operation. GERITEL WIRE can provide custom printing, colour consistency, cut lengths and coil or reel packing. The installer should verify fault duty, terminal method and local colour requirements. Samples are available for termination trials.

Is an unsheathed earth conductor safe to use?

Unsheathed protective earth cable can be safe when installed in an approved protected location such as conduit, a switchboard or an enclosure. It is not automatically suitable for exposed mechanical damage, wet areas or burial. GERITEL WIRE can recommend a sheathed alternative when the route requires additional environmental protection.

What is the maximum continuous operating temperature?

This GERITEL WIRE product is specified as a 75°C earth cable for maximum continuous operation. V-90 insulation offers improved ageing characteristics compared with ordinary 75°C PVC in appropriate fixed installations, but the final conductor temperature and derating must be checked by the project designer.

Is the 1.0mm² version solid or stranded?

The visible 1.0mm² construction is a Class 1 solid earth wire with a 1/1.13 mm conductor. GERITEL WIRE lists this variant separately from the Class 2 stranded sizes so purchasing teams and panel builders can select compatible terminals and avoid receiving the wrong conductor construction.

Are the larger conductor sizes Class 5 flexible cable?

No. The visible stranded sizes are positioned as a Class 2 earth conductor for fixed wiring, not a Class 5 fine-stranded flexible cable. GERITEL WIRE keeps these product families separate in titles, quotations and technical documents so customers can choose the correct conductor class and termination method.
