Heavy Earth Wire for Main Panels and Distribution Boards

50mm2 green yellow grounding cable contains nineteen 1.78 mm plain annealed copper strands for substantial protective-earth links in main panels, switchboard assemblies, distribution boards and protected industrial equipment. The 19/1.78 Class 2 earth wire follows AS/NZS 1125, while the complete AS/NZS protective grounding conductor is manufactured to AS/NZS 5000.1. Rated 600/1000V, it has V-90 PVC insulation only, no outer sheath and a 75°C maximum continuous operating temperature. GERITEL WIRE can support custom drum lengths, cable legends, pallet packing and batch inspection documents. Design approval should cover fault duty, conductor support, gland choice and lug compatibility.

Which lugs should be used for large earth conductors?

Copper cable lug selection should match conductor material, nominal cross-section, Class 1 or Class 2 construction, stud size and crimping system. GERITEL WIRE can provide strand details and cable samples for lug trials, helping project teams confirm tooling before ordering large 70–185mm² sizes.

How should stranded earth wire connect to an earth bar?

An earth conductor busbar connection should use a terminal or lug approved for the conductor size and strand class. GERITEL WIRE can supply consistent cut lengths and identify both ends by item number, while the installer applies the specified crimp, bolt torque and continuity test.

Can stranded earth wire go directly into a screw terminal?

A stranded wire screw terminal is acceptable only when the terminal is rated for that conductor type and the strands are fully contained. GERITEL WIRE provides the Class 2 construction data, and customers should follow the device strip length and torque instructions rather than twisting or soldering the end without approval.

Are crimped earth connections permitted?
