CSA ACWU90 Cable 4 conductor 600V AIA Flame Retardant

ACWU90 cable uses aluminum compact conductors to provide excellent conductivity and lightweight characteristics. Its insulation layer uses cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), which meets the RW 90 standard, has excellent heat resistance and electrical aging resistance, and can work in wet or dry environments. The outer layer of the cable is equipped with aluminum interlocking armor (AIA), which effectively enhances mechanical strength and resistance to external damage, and is suitable for installation needs in harsh environments. The outer sheath is made of low-acid gas, flame-retardant, moisture-resistant and UV-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and is black, custom colors can be provided upon request.

Application

ACWU90 cable is suitable for exposed and concealed wiring in dry, damp, or wet environments. It can be used in ventilated, non-ventilated, and ladder-shaped cable trays in dry, damp, or wet environments. It is also suitable for direct buried installation (provided appropriate protection is required by the inspection agency). When used with certified HL cable glands, ACWU90 cable can be used for wiring in hazardous areas. The cable is also suitable for service entrance installation, providing reliable power transmission in a variety of environments.

Certification

ACWU90 cable is CUL certified and complies with Canadian electrical standards. CUL certified ACWU cable indicates its reliability in wet environments and underground use, and is suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial fields, especially in applications requiring moisture and corrosion resistance. The cable uses aluminum conductors, is lightweight, and its temperature range can reach 90°C, which can provide stable power transmission under harsh conditions.

FAQ

Q: What does ACWU90 mean?

A: ACWU90 refers to a specific type of electrical cable, typically used in Canada.
AC: Stands for Aluminum Conductor, meaning the cable has an aluminum core.
W: Indicates the cable is suitable for wet locations, meaning it can be exposed to moisture or outdoor environments without damage.
U: Stands for Underground, implying the cable is rated for installation in the ground or buried directly.
90: Refers to the cable's temperature rating-in this case, the cable can operate at temperatures up to 90°C.

Q: Is ACWU always aluminum?

A: Yes, ACWU cables are typically aluminum conductor cables. The "A" in ACWU stands for Aluminum, indicating that the core conductor is made of aluminum. However, there are other similar cables with different conductor materials, such as ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) or AWG (American Wire Gauge), which can have copper or other materials. But for ACWU, aluminum is standard.

Q: What is the difference between Teck and ACWU?

A: ACWU cables with aluminum conductors are approximately half the weight of the equivalent copper conductor Teck cables. ACWU is commonly available in 600V ratings, whereas Teck cables are typically stocked in 600V, 1kV, or higher voltage ratings, providing more flexibility for higher voltage applications.
