Application

 

 

Bare ACSR (aluminum conductor steel reinforced) cable is commonly used for overhead power transmission and distribution. Its unique construction combines the conductivity of aluminum with the strength of a steel core, making it ideal for long-distance, high-voltage transmission lines. The lightweight aluminum enables efficient power transmission, while the steel core provides the necessary tensile strength to support the conductors in all weather conditions, including high winds and ice and snow accumulation. ACSR is widely used in urban and rural power grids for its reliability, durability, and ability to withstand heavy mechanical loads. It is also used in areas where long spans between poles or towers are required.

Bare ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) cable is a type of electrical conductor widely used in overhead power transmission and distribution systems. It consists of aluminum 1350-H19 wires, concentrically stranded around a steel core for enhanced strength and durability. The standard core wire for ACSR is typically a class A galvanized steel, although a zinc-5% aluminum-mischmetal alloy coating is also available for added corrosion resistance. For applications requiring aluminum-clad conductors, the ACSR can be upgraded to aluminum-clad (AW) ACSR.

To further protect against corrosion, the core may be treated with grease, or the entire cable can be infused with grease. Additionally, ACSR conductors can be manufactured in a non-specular version, which reduces glare and is particularly useful in certain environmental conditions.
