Application
PVC 3 & 4 core double sheathed round submersible wire cables are designed for single-phase submersible pumps and are widely used in agricultural irrigation, underground drinking water pump systems, industrial water supply, mine drainage, offshore drilling platforms and other scenarios. They are particularly suitable for deep wells, humid, and high mechanical stress environments. Its excellent electrical performance and flexible structure ensure that the cable is stable and reliable in narrow shafts or long-term immersion conditions.

Feature

PVC 3 & 4 core double sheathed round submersible wire cables use highly flexible fine-stranded bare copper conductors to ensure good conductivity and mechanical strength. Each core is insulated with high-quality PVC and has a sturdy PVC outer sheath, which has excellent moisture, oil, abrasion and corrosion resistance. The conductor color is clearly identifiable (red, yellow, blue or brown, blue, black), which is easy to install and maintain. The cable has passed the IEC 60332-1 flame retardant test, with a rated voltage of 1100V and a test voltage of up to 3000V, suitable for operating environments from -15°C to +70°C.
Certification
Submersible well pump wire has passed many international certifications such as UL, SAA, CE, etc. Its waterproof design, coupled with its resistance to wear, chemicals, and extreme temperatures, makes it a reliable choice for powering submersible pumps in wells, water treatment systems, and other high-demand facilities.

FAQ
Q: What type of cable is needed for a submersible pump?
A: For submersible pumps, the ideal cable is a submersible pump cable, which is designed to operate underwater and withstand the harsh conditions common in wells, boreholes or underwater environments.
Waterproof insulation, resistant to abrasion, oil, chemicals, and mechanical wear, multi-strand copper conductors are flexible and corrosion-resistant for long-term underwater use. Flat or round structures are easy to install in narrow wells.
Q: How to size a submersible cable?
A: Sizing a submersible cable requires the following steps
Step 1: Gather key information
Determine what you need: Pump voltage (e.g., 120V, 230V, 380V, etc.), Pump motor power (in hp or kW), Number of phases (single or three phase), Motor full load amps (FLA) (found on motor nameplate or data sheet), Total cable length (from power source to pump), Voltage drop tolerance (usually no more than 5%)
Step 2: Calculate voltage drop
Voltage drop depends on: Cable length (bidirectional, so double the depth), Wire resistance, Current, Conductor size
You can use the following formula:
Voltage drop (V) = 2 × L × I × R 1000
Voltage drop (V) = 10002 × L × I × R
L = Cable length (meters) in one direction
I = Current (amperes)
R = Conductor resistance per kilometer (depends on size/material)
Alternatively, use a voltage drop calculator provided by the cable manufacturer.
Step 3: Select Cable Size
Select a cable size that can safely handle the current, maintain a voltage drop below 5%, and meet the temperature and environmental conditions of the application
Here is a quick reference:
Motor Power Cable Size (Copper) Maximum Length (230V)
1 HP 2.5 mm2 (14 AWG) ~60 m
2 HP 4 mm2 (12 AWG) ~80 m
3 HP 6 mm2 (10 AWG) ~100 m
(Exact numbers vary by voltage, phase, and local regulations.)
