Wet location MC cables feature enhanced insulation compounds, sealed armor joints, and moisture-resistant jacketing that prevent water penetration even under prolonged submersion or direct spray. Standard MC cables only meet damp location requirements and will degrade rapidly in wet environments.
What is the maximum ampacity of 4/0 AWG wet location copper MC cable?
At 75°C (the standard operating temperature for wet locations), this cable delivers a 230A ampacity at 600V, making it suitable for the heaviest power loads including main service entrances, large transformer connections, and industrial pump systems.
Can this cable be installed directly in outdoor areas exposed to rain and snow?
Yes, it is fully UL listed for continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions including rain, snow, and humidity. For areas with prolonged direct sunlight, we recommend our optional UV-stabilized jacket variant for maximum longevity.
Are there special installation requirements for wet location MC cable?
All cable terminations must use wet-location rated connectors and be properly sealed to prevent moisture ingress. The cable should also be installed with adequate drainage to avoid standing water pooling around connections, in accordance with NEC Article 330 requirements.
