Its UL 1569 listing and PVC jacket allow conduit-free installation in exposed, outdoor, or direct burial conditions.
What type of connectors are required for termination?
Use UL-listed MC cable fittings designed specifically for PVC-jacketed interlocked armor. These fittings must penetrate the jacket and clamp securely onto the metal armor. For the 600 kcmil conductors, use compression lugs or bolted connectors rated for 90°C and copper.
Can I use this cable outdoors in exposed runs?
Yes. The PVC jacket is UV-resistant and sunlight-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor exposed runs. The armor provides mechanical protection, and the wet-rated insulation handles rain and high humidity.
What are the insulation ratings of THHW vs THWN-2?
The wire is dual-rated. For THHW: 90°C dry / 75°C wet. For THWN-2: 90°C both wet and dry. This allows safe use in a wide range of environments including direct sunlight, underground conduits, and high-humidity areas.
