Feature
12/2 NM-B wire is a non-metallic sheathed cable commonly used for fixed wiring in residential and light commercial buildings. It is designed to comply with US 719, UL 83, and ASTM B3 and B8 standards. This type of cable contains two 12 AWG solid or stranded copper conductors (manufactured according to ASTM B3 or B8 standards), covered with a colored polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation layer, and a nylon jacket for enhanced abrasion resistance and insulation performance. The overall structure is covered with a sturdy PVC jacket to provide additional mechanical protection and flame retardant properties.
The cable is rated for 600V, has an insulation thickness of 19 mils, and is suitable for an operating temperature of 90°C in a dry environment. It contains a bare copper ground wire, also 12 AWG, and the overall cable size is approximately 418 x 179 mils, with an allowable current carrying capacity of 20 amps.
