Application
UF-B cable(Underground Feeder UF-B Cable) is a widely used electrical conductor commonly used in outdoor and underground power transmission scenarios. According to the 2011 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC), UF-B cable is usually used as a power line to provide power to outdoor pole lights, water pumps and other equipment or devices, and is suitable for lines drawn from distribution points in existing buildings. In addition, UF-B cable can be directly buried without additional protective tubes, showing excellent durability and moisture resistance. Multi-core UF-B cable can also be used for indoor branch circuit wiring in residential or agricultural buildings, but the temperature of the conductor must not exceed 90°C, and its current carrying capacity is limited according to the standard of 60°C conductor. According to NEC requirements, UF-B cable is also suitable for the application scenarios allowed by NMC cable in Article 334.10(B), and its voltage rating is 600 volts. With its excellent performance, UF-B cable has become a reliable choice for indoor and outdoor power transmission.

Feature

Conductor Specification (6/3)
6: Indicates the gauge of the UF-B cable conductor, i.e. the thickness of the wire. Gauge 6 wire can usually support higher currents and is suitable for high-power devices.
3: Indicates that there are three conductors inside the cable (usually two hot wires and one neutral wire). This is to provide better power transmission and load capacity.
Insulation Material
The conductor of the UF-B cable is usually covered with PVC insulation (polyvinyl chloride), which is waterproof, corrosion-resistant, UV-resistant and chemical-resistant, ensuring long-term stable operation of the cable in wet underground environments.
Underground Installation Design
UF-B cable is designed for underground installation and does not require an external protective pipe. Its outer layer has sufficient protection to withstand pressure, soil friction and corrosion in underground environments.
Certification
UF-B cable (underground feeder cable) is UL certified, ensuring that it meets strict standards for safety, performance and durability. UL certification means that UF-B cable has been fully tested and can be used reliably in special scenarios such as direct burial, humid environments and open-air installations. Its outer sheath is made of high-quality waterproof and UV-resistant materials with excellent weather resistance and can meet the requirements of the 600-volt voltage rating. At the same time, UL certification also verifies the flame retardant properties of UF-B cable, ensuring its safety in high temperatures and harsh conditions.

FAQ
Q: What does type UF-B mean?
A: Type UF-B refers to a type of underground feeder and branch circuit cable used in electrical installations.
UF (Underground Feeder): Use in underground and direct-burial installations without requiring additional conduit.
B (Multiple Conductors): The "B" designation typically indicates that the cable contains multiple conductors (e.g., two or more insulated wires plus a bare ground wire).
Q: Can I use UFB wire indoors?
It can also be used in dry locations indoors, though it might not be the most practical or economical choice compared to other types of cable like NM-B (Non-Metallic Sheathed) cable.
Q: Can I use UF-B instead of NM B?
UF-B can be substituted for NM-B, but unless you need its extra durability or moisture resistance, NM-B is generally a more practical and economical choice for dry interior applications.
