Heavy Industrial Multicore Feeder Cable for Substation Services

The 3x185+1x70E 3C+E cable is designed for high-capacity fixed power distribution in heavy industrial and infrastructure projects. Its Class 5 copper conductors provide improved handling for large cable routes while maintaining a dedicated earth conductor within one multicore sheath. It can be selected as an industrial multicore cable for mining sites where the route is protected from unsuitable mechanical or chemical exposure. The construction is also applicable as a 3C+E cable for substations and auxiliary distribution. With X-HF-110 insulation and HFS-110-TP sheathing, it can serve as a 110C cable for mining MCC panels with LSZH and flame-retardant properties. GERITEL WIRE supports SAA documents, test records, inspection and export drum planning.

Flexible single core X-HF-110 insulated and HFS-110-TP sheathed cable for mains, submains and subcircuits unenclosed, enclosed in conduit or in underground ducts for building and industrial plants where not subject to mechanical damage. Suitable where space is at a premium and/or where conditions of overload may occur.

Do I need to derate the cable in a group?

Yes, grouped cables can run hotter because they dissipate less heat. The designer should apply grouping and ambient derating to the 3C+E cable ampacity rather than using a catalogue figure without adjustment. GERITEL WIRE can provide conductor and installation data for the calculation.

How do I calculate voltage drop on a long feeder?

Voltage drop depends on current, route length, conductor resistance, reactance and power factor. GERITEL WIRE can provide the electrical parameters needed for a 3C+E voltage drop calculation so the project engineer can confirm whether the selected size remains acceptable over the full run.

How is the protective earth size checked?

The reduced earth must satisfy the applicable fault-current and protective-device requirements. A three phase cable sizing with reduced earth review therefore considers both normal current in the phase cores and short-duration fault duty in the earth conductor. GERITEL WIRE states both sizes clearly for engineering approval.

Can two 3C+E cables be installed in parallel?

Parallel circuits may be possible when cable lengths, conductor sizes, routing, termination and impedance are carefully matched. GERITEL WIRE can supply matched 3C+E parallel cable lengths and clear drum identification, but the parallel arrangement must be approved by the electrical designer.
