300 kcmil XHHW/XHHW-2 Copper MC Cable Oil & Chemical Resistant for Industrial Plants
Our premium 300 kcmil XHHW/XHHW-2 MC Cable sets the industry standard for oil and chemical resistance in heavy industrial applications. Constructed with high-purity oxygen-free copper conductors and flame-retardant XLPE insulation, it maintains stable electrical performance even when exposed to prolonged oil immersion and temperature extremes, with a continuous operating temperature of 90°C and short-circuit withstand capability of 250°C for 1 second. The galvanized steel interlocked armor is paired with a dual-layer protection system consisting of an inner oil-resistant thermoplastic sheath and an outer UV-stabilized oil-resistant PVC jacket, providing superior defense against oil, grease, acids, alkalis, and abrasion. This cable is perfect for powering heavy machinery in automotive manufacturing plants, food processing facilities, and printing presses, where oil spills and chemical exposure are common occurrences. Rated for 600V, it includes a full-sized #3 AWG bare copper grounding conductor and is suitable for cable tray installation, exposed wiring, and conduit runs.

What types of oils and chemicals is this cable resistant to?
This oil-resistant MC cable is tested to withstand prolonged exposure to mineral oils, synthetic lubricants, diesel fuels, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, and most common industrial greases. It also offers moderate resistance to weak acids and alkalis. For exposure to strong chemicals or solvents, we recommend consulting our engineering team for a customized solution.
What is the difference between oil-resistant MC cable and standard MC cable?
The primary difference lies in the jacket and barrier materials. Oil-resistant MC cables use specially formulated PVC or LSZH jackets that are engineered to resist swelling, cracking, and degradation when exposed to oils and hydrocarbons. They also often include additional oil-resistant barriers between the armor and the core to prevent oil penetration to the conductors. Standard MC cables use general-purpose PVC jackets that will degrade rapidly in oily environments.
Can this oil-resistant MC cable be used for direct burial?
Yes, our oil-resistant MC cables with CCW armor and thickened PVC jackets are UL listed for direct burial in earth and embedding in concrete. However, for direct burial applications in areas with high soil contamination from oils or chemicals, we recommend using the LSZH jacket version for maximum long-term durability.
What is the temperature rating for oil immersion applications?
For continuous immersion in mineral oils at temperatures up to 75°C, this cable maintains its full electrical and mechanical performance. For intermittent oil exposure or splashing, it can operate at its full 90°C dry location rating. Always consult the NEC and local codes for specific installation requirements in oily environments.
