CU EPR/CTS/PVC MV-105 medium voltage cable is rated 5kV with 100% insulation level and 90-mil copper tape shielding. It is structured with compact copper conductor, 105°C heat-resistant EPR insulation, CTS shielding and durable PVC jacket. The EPR insulation boasts great dielectric performance, ozone and aging resistance for long-term high-load operation. The thick copper tape shield stabilizes electric field, eliminates partial discharge and blocks electromagnetic interference, and the 100% insulation level guarantees safety under ground faults. The PVC outer jacket withstands abrasion, UV and moisture. With stable voltage resistance and strong anti-interference capability, it suits underground conduit, cable tray and direct burial for industrial and municipal medium voltage power distribution.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

 

The Medium Voltage, EPR/Cu Tape Shield/PVC, Type MV-105 Cable consist of fully annealed bare copper Class B stranded conductors, covered with ethylene propylene rubber (EPR), copper tape shield, and black PVC jacket. These cables are used in industrial power circuits.

APPLICATIONS

 

·  In conduit, duct, free air, and raceways, primary installations include cable trays, and outdoor locations

·  In direct burial if installed in a system with a ground conductor that is in close proximity, and conforms with NEC 250.4 (A)(5)

·  In wet or dry locations

·  Approved for Class I, Div. 2 industrial hazardous locations per NEC

·  Designed to operate continuously at a conductor temperature not exceeding

   》105°C for normal operations

   》140°C for emergency overload

   》250°C for short circuit

What does "100% I.L. 90 Mils Shielded" mean for this 5kV MV-105 cable?
100% I.L. = 100% Insulation Level, the insulation thickness is designed to withstand full system ground fault voltage without breakdown, required for Australian marine offshore island projects. 90 Mils copper tape shield means the shielding copper tape thickness reaches 90 mil (1 mil=0.0254mm), thicker than standard thin shield, greatly improves anti-interference and safety in humid coastal circuits.
Can this MV-105 cable be used for Cocos Island offshore marine projects with salt fog & high humidity?
Absolutely yes. We adopt EPR insulation with excellent water & salt fog resistance, matched with UV-stable PVC jacket. The whole cable passes salt spray aging test, fully meets Australia offshore marine power cable standards. We have supplied identical EPR/CTS/PVC MV-105 cables to multiple Australian island projects before.
What's the difference between MV-105 and MV-90 medium voltage cables? Which one is better for our large quantity island project?
The core difference is continuous operating temperature: MV-105 runs at 105°C, MV-90 only 90°C. MV-105 has higher ampacity, so you can select smaller wire gauge to meet the same power load, saving total cable weight & total CBM volume to cut ocean freight cost. For large Cocos Island project with heavy power demand, MV-105 is the cost-effective choice.
What installation ways are available for this CU EPR/CTS/PVC 5kV cable? Can we bury it directly underground on Cocos Island?
It supports all common medium voltage installation methods: underground direct burial, steel conduit laying, cable tray routing, overhead aerial installation, suitable for both dry and fully wet locations. For direct burial on the island, we can offer extra anti-corrosion PVC jacket upgrade to resist soil chemical corrosion if you need.
