what is Type TC-ER cable

14 AWG TC-ER – Compact Overall Shielded XLPE Insulated Control Cable for High-Density EMI Protection
In modern factories, high-density cable trays are the norm, and finding space for additional shielding can be challenging. This 14 AWG overall shielded TC-ER control cable delivers EMI protection in a compact size that fits easily into crowded cable trays and control cabinets. Featuring XLPE insulation, stranded bare copper conductors, an aluminum/polyester overall shield, and a durable PVC jacket, this cable provides reliable signal transmission in electrically noisy environments. UL1277 and UL44 certified with a 600V rating, it is Type TC-ER rated for exposed run tray installations without conduit. The overall shield protects against electromagnetic interference, while the XLPE insulation offers excellent resistance to heat, moisture, and chemicals. The 14 AWG size allows more conductors in the same tray space, increasing wiring density while maintaining protection against EMI. This cable is ideal for factory automation, instrumentation, control panels, and sensor systems where space is limited but signal integrity cannot be compromised.

Product Description

 

The XLPE/PVC, 600V Control, Type TC-ER Direct Burial Cables consist of fully annealed bare copper Class B stranded conductors, covered with oil and gas resistant Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE), unshielded or shielded and black PVC jacket. These cables are used in industrial power or station control circuits.

Applications

 
  • In conduit, duct, free air, raceways and direct burial, primary installations include cable trays, and outdoor locations.
  • In wet or dry locations
  • Approved for Class I, Div. 2 industrial hazardous locations per NEC
  • Permitted for Exposed Run (ER) used in accordance with NEC for 3 or more conductors; two conductors without a ground wire are Type TC only
