It does not carry a direct burial rating. For underground direct burial projects, we recommend UL 44 listed USE-2 wire; for exposed outdoor tray runs, our UL 44 compliant TC-ER cables are a matching code-compliant solution.
What is the rated ampacity of 4 AWG XHHW-2 copper wire?
Per NEC specifications, 4 AWG copper conductor XHHW-2 wire (90°C rating) has a base allowable ampacity of 95 amps when installed with 3 current-carrying conductors in a raceway at 30°C ambient temperature. Actual working ampacity must be derated according to the number of parallel conductors, ambient temperature and installation environment.
