Can AC90 be bent sharply?

FAQ

What temperature class does AC90 insulation support?

No. Although AC90 flexible armoured cable is flexible, it should not be kinked or bent tighter than the permitted minimum bend radius. Excessive bending can deform the interlocked armour or damage the insulated conductors.

Can AC90 be pulled like ordinary building wire?

AC90 building cable is installed as a complete cable assembly rather than as individual conductors pulled through a raceway. Installation methods should avoid excessive pulling force, twisting, kinking and abrasion of the armour.

Can AC90 pass through metal framing?

Yes. AC90 steel stud wiring can pass through metal framing where the route is permitted and protected. Installers should use suitable bushings or grommets where needed and prevent sharp edges from damaging the cable.

Does AC90 require anti-short bushings?

Fitting and bushing requirements for AC90 armoured cable fitting depend on the cable construction, approved connector and applicable electrical code. Installers should follow the connector manufacturer's instructions and local inspection requirements rather than applying a one-size-fits-all rule.
