GERITEL WIRE supplies 500 MCM aluminum RHH cable with stranded construction and thermoset insulation for protected 90°C dry-location service. 500 kcmil aluminum RHH cable for data centers should be positioned as power-distribution wiring rather than telecom cable, with any tray, low-smoke or special fire requirement reviewed separately. APPLICATIONS

Type USE-2, RHH or RHW-2 cables with Aluminum Alloy 8000 Series conductors are suitable for use in conduit and raceways installed underground in wet locations, and where condensation and moisture accumulations within the conduit do not exceed 90°C. Permitted for Type USE-2 per UL-854 for applications requiring direct burial. For applications requiring Type RHH or RHW-2, conductor temperatures shall not exceed 90°C in wet or dry locations. Type USE-2 is permitted for 600 volt applications. Type RHH/RHW-2 is permitted for applications up to 1000 volts.

FEATURES

10 AWG and larger rated for Sunlight Resistance. Cables comply with UL's FT-2 (horizontal wire flame). On 250 KCMIL and larger, sequential foot markings located every foot for easy measuring. For 1 AWG through 4/0 AWG, sequential foot markings on master reels only unless otherwise specified. 1/0 AWG and larger are rated for cable tray use and comply with UL-1685-Method 1 (70,000 Btu/hr) flame test. Excellent ruggedized and mechanical protection.

Standard RHH should not automatically be described as outdoor-rated in every condition. Provide the exposure details so the correct construction can be selected.

Can Aluminum RHH Wire be installed in PVC conduit?

Aluminum RHH Wire in PVC conduit can be used where the pathway and environment are permitted by the product rating. Contractors should calculate conduit fill from actual conductor dimensions and consider whether the raceway is classified as a wet location. If the PVC conduit is underground, an appropriate wet-location cable rating may be required.

Can Aluminum RHH Wire be installed in EMT?

Aluminum RHH Wire in EMT can be a practical protected fixed-wiring solution for commercial and industrial projects when the design permits the conductor type.
