This 300 kcmil XHHW/XHHW-2 copper building wire features high-conductivity pure copper conductors (available in solid or stranded construction) with XLPE cross-linked polyethylene insulation, certified to UL 44 standards. It is rated for 600V, 1000V, and 2000V, offering flexibility to suit various voltage system requirements. The XHHW-2 insulation is rated for 90°C in both dry and wet locations, delivering excellent heat resistance, moisture protection, and chemical resistance. XHHW vs XHHW-2 – what's the difference?

XHHW-2 is rated 90°C wet and dry; XHHW is only 90°C dry and 75°C wet. For wet environments, choose XHHW-2.

Why choose 300 kcmil over smaller gauges for feeders?

Higher ampacity, lower voltage drop, and room for future load growth. Ideal for main service entrances and large equipment feeders.

Can this wire be used outdoors or in wet locations?

Yes. XHHW-2 is rated for wet locations. Install in conduit – not for direct burial unless marked.

UL 44 vs UL 83 – what's the difference?

UL 44 covers thermoset-insulated wires (XHHW). UL 83 covers thermoplastic-insulated wires (THHN). UL 44 offers better heat, moisture, and chemical resistance for demanding applications.
