High Current Submains Cable for Commercial Buildings
The 2×120+1×35E 110°C elastomer cable provides two high-capacity active cores and a dedicated protective earth conductor in one flexible 0.6/1kV assembly. Its Class 5 construction makes this large flexible building cable easier to route through switchrooms, risers and protected plant spaces. The product can serve as a main distribution board feeder cable for mains and submains when the engineer confirms current capacity, voltage drop and fault performance. X-HF-110 insulation and an HFS-110-TP sheath create a PVC free power cable for service risers with low-smoke, halogen-free properties. Applications

 

Flexible single core X-HF-110 insulated and HFS-110-TP sheathed cable for mains, submains and subcircuits unenclosed, enclosed in conduit or in underground ducts for building and industrial plants where not subject to mechanical damage. Suitable where space is at a premium and/or where conditions of overload may occur.

Can I use the catalogue ampacity without derating?
No. Catalogue values are based on defined ambient, spacing and thermal conditions. Cable grouping, high ambient temperature, enclosure and soil conditions may reduce capacity. GERITEL WIRE supplies cable derating data inputs, while the designer calculates the final allowable current.
How is voltage drop calculated for this cable?
Voltage drop uses circuit length, current, conductor resistance, reactance, power factor and supply arrangement. GERITEL WIRE can provide the resistance and reactance values for a 2C+E voltage drop calculation so the engineer can confirm the selected size.
Does the smaller earth core affect normal current capacity?
The earth conductor is not normally a continuously loaded phase conductor, so its reduced size does not determine the active-core ampacity. It must still satisfy fault and protective requirements. GERITEL WIRE identifies the protective earth conductor size separately for engineering review.
What information is needed for a short-circuit check?
The engineer needs prospective fault current, clearing time, conductor material, initial temperature and allowable final temperature. GERITEL WIRE provides the cable construction and conductor data needed for a 2C+E short circuit calculation, while the designer confirms compliance.
