What Is The Difference Between X-90 Cable And V-90 PVC Cable For Australian Orange Circular Cable? Which One Is Better?

Leave a message

X-90 cable and V-90 cable have similar functions, but their differences are also very obvious. Below is a detailed introduction to the differences between the two:

1. Different insulation materials

The insulation material used for X-90 cables is cross-linked polyethylene, while V-90 cables are made of polyvinyl chloride material. Due to the absence of chlorine in the insulation of X-90 cables, a large amount of chlorine gas (chlorine is a toxic gas) will not be produced during combustion. Compared to the V90 cable, the X90 cable has stronger insulation resistance to high temperatures, is more environmentally friendly, and performs better than the V90 cable.

2. Different working temperatures

The maximum allowable operating temperature for X-90 orange circular cable sizes is 90 ℃, and the maximum temperature during short circuit (within 5 seconds) shall not exceed 250 ℃; The maximum allowable working temperature for conventional VV cables is around 65 ℃, and during a short circuit (within 5 seconds), the maximum temperature does not exceed 160 ℃. The difference in maximum operating temperature determines that X-90 orange circular cable has a higher current carrying capacity, and also determines that X-90 orange circular cable has better overall performance than VV cable.

3. Different working voltage ranges

Normally, the voltage range for X-90 orange circular cable operation is 6-500KV, while V-90 orange circular cable operates within 1-6KV. So, the V-90 orange circular cable is generally used in low-pressure environments, while the X-90 orange circular cable covers high, medium, and low-pressure environments. This is also why the manufacturing process of the X-90 orange circular cable requires a higher level of expertise.
