The Main Differences Between American Standard SOOW Cable And SJTW Cable

Leave a message

The main differences between American standard soow cable and sjtw cable are insulation sheath material, rated voltage, cable structure, application field, size range, and certification and standards. ‌

Material: Firstly, both of conductors are made of high-purity oxygen free copper, but the insulation and sheath of SOOW are made of rubber material, while the insulation and sheath of SJTW cable are made of polyvinyl chloride material

Rated voltage: The rated voltage of soow cable is 600 volts, while the rated voltage of sjtw cable is 300 volts. The "J" in SJTW wire stands for "Junior", which represents its lower rated voltage.

Cable structure: Both soow cable and sjtw cable are wear-resistant, ozone resistant, sun resistant, chemical resistant, and have been approved for immersion in water. The "O O" in SOOW cable indicates its insulation oil resistance and sheath oil resistance, while SJTW cable does not have oil resistance performance

Application areas: soow cable are widely used in mobile tools and equipment, not only for industrial applications, but also commonly used in commercial and residential fields. Due to its high permeability and durability, it can also be used in more important industrial

applications such as construction equipment, cranes, processing machinery, and electric motors. In contrast, although SJTW wire are also suitable for similar application scenarios, they may be limited in some situations where higher voltage is required due to their lower rated voltage. As SJTW wire does not have oil resistance, they are also limited in some oily environments.

Size range: The size range of SOOW wire may be wider, typically including different specifications from 2 awg to 18 awg. The size of SJTW wire is limited to 10 awg to 18 awg, which means that SJTW wire may have limitations in the number of conductors, typically between 2 and 4 conductors.

Certification and Standards: SOOW cable  and SJTW cable typically comply with UL American standard certification, which means they meet US national safety standards and have high safety and reliability.

In summary, SOOW cable are more suitable for applications that require higher voltage and larger current due to their higher rated voltage and wider size range, while SJTW cable are more suitable for connecting small devices with low voltage requirements or specific sizes due to their lower rated voltage and smaller size range
