What Is The Difference Between TFFN Wire And THHN Wire?

Leave a message

The main differences between TFFN wire and THHN wire lie in their flexibility, heat resistance, size selection, application scenarios and Certification standards. ‌

Flexibility: TFFN wire (thermoplastic flexible clamp nylon) is more flexible than THHN wire, making it suitable for clamps and applications that require higher flexibility. TFFN wire are only suitable for smaller wire diameter ranges, such as TFFN wire16AWG-TFFN wire18AWG, and ensure better flexibility through twisting. In contrast, THHN cable (thermoplastic high heat resistant nylon) have better heat resistance and more size options, providing a wider range of application scenarios.

Heat resistance: THHN cable have better heat resistance, which makes them more reliable in high-temperature environments, can improve the instantaneous heat overload resistance of wires, and slow down or reduce the escape or migration of PVC components. This characteristic makes THHN wire more suitable for applications that require higher heat resistance.

Application scenario: Due to the flexibility of TFFN wire, they are usually used in situations that require high flexibility, such as internal wiring of electronic devices. THHN cables are widely used in various fields such as household appliances, aerospace systems, buildings, and lighting due to their excellent heat resistance and diverse size choices, providing higher safety and applicability.

Certification standards: TFFN wire belongs to UL62 certification standard, THHN wire belongs to UL83 certification standard

In summary, TFFN wire and THHN wire each have their own advantages and application scenarios. The choice of cable depends on specific application requirements. TFFN cable is suitable for situations that require high flexibility, while THHN cable is more suitable for situations that require high heat resistance and a wide range of size choices.
